Between bouts of working and getting screwed over by a game I keep crawling back to, I finally managed to finish something.
This is Kallis. He is like a younger version of Alexander Anderson, if Alexander Anderson were a cat with swords. Originally he's based off my character from an MMO called PlaneShift, and he is therefore not a typical cat, but a feline-like species called the enkidukai. The game and its people were heavy on role-playing so he started off as an individual character, but I never ended up elaborating him because I don't play games to role-play. The most depth I get on FFXI even is talking about how much cooler the Republic of Bastok is than the other nations and threatening to run people through with my scythe because I am a dark knight and they are not.
However, in the setting all of my characters are from, he doesn't yet have much of a purpose other than to piss off demons and vampires by attacking them for no reason other than the fact that the church says they are bad. He spends the majority of his time heckling Cosmos because holy crap a werewolf AND a vampire he must be like the ultimate heathen!!!!
At this point it's mostly comical because Anderson Kitty is mortal, young, and pretty normal physically yet he's constantly going after this behemoth immortal guy who just wants to be left alone. It's still goddamn hard to play him though because he doesn't have any other reason to be there besides being a crazy zealot.
As for the picture, I was trying to work on more dynamic poses I guess, and I tried a shading technique where all the base colors were on one layer, but I think I'll just stick to them being separate because there's more control that way.
Anywho, very nice. I like the pose. Looks like either a wall should be behind him....or there should be some background suggesting that maybe he is leaping backwards from something. But that's just me.
Funny thing, I originally planned to have something in the background there maybe swinging at him or whatever, but somewhere along the line I forgot about it completely.
Playing this character is a mixture of fun because he's a crazy idiot and mild frustration because I've never done that archetype before. I'm working on it, though.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
