Generic Journal Entry

Sat Jul 26, 2008, 7:37 PM
Because I will most likely not update this thing in another forever and a day, here's an entry that will hopefully withstand the test of time:

Welcome to my DeviantArt page. How you got here, I don't know, because there's no way it could have been intentional. It's neither very pretty nor particularly eye-catching but I'm glad to see it warrants your attention nonetheless.

I'm going to follow in the footsteps of ~Kaidona and whore out our awesome message board: Obsidian Rain.

It's a general (though predominantly dark) free-form role-playing board that is now in its second stage after renovations that took us years. We've been having a lot of difficulty getting traffic, let alone members that stay for more than a week or post more than one thing, so if you're into this kind of thing or know somebody who is, at least check it out. Thanks.

December '07 Update

Mon Dec 3, 2007, 2:55 PM
I figure I should probably update this, seeing as I don't need to yell at people not to add my desktop to their favorites anymore. In fact I encourage it with this one because Hellsing is like THE manga/OVA.

I've been thinking about getting things put on here a lot, actually, and I have drawn up a few new things and am trying to draw up more. I'll be getting a laptop soon, and that might help, especially because I'll be going on vacation for Christmas (as usual) and something tells me that this year I'll go completely nuts without the internet.

That's all I've got for now, though. I promise I'll try and be more active on here and everywhere else next year.

Dear random people whom I don't know:

STOP ADDING MY DESKTOP TO YOUR FAVORITES PLZKTHX.

It's nice that people like it but it's not exactly an original work of art nor is it anything I put any effort into, not to mention I've changed it a lot since I uploaded it. And it's slightly annoying to get a message saying something I only uploaded was favorited when my artwork doesn't really get anything.

Besides that, I'm gonna try and get something up soon-like and maybe even upload the desktop I have now so I can finally retire the old one.

1K Pageviews

Sun Mar 12, 2006, 3:39 PM
I finally figured out how to update this thing without using the links on the top right of the screen that are blocked by that stupid "We could seriously use a network administrator" thing that I have no interest in.

I'll keep this one short. All I'm really here to say is that my old journal is REALLY outdated, and that I've finally got over 1,000 pageviews. I have this crappy cold right now and I'm too lazy and tired to say anything else.

[Insert really big thank-you speech to all the people who came and took a look at my crap that sounds as though I'm actually excited here.]

A Take on the Issues

Mon Aug 1, 2005, 12:11 AM
Okay, here's my take on the current issues here:

(First FurAffinity, now dA? Aw hell no.)

Yeah, thanks a lot for making drama. Not just who or whatever caused Jark to step down, but the people who're launching all these HUGE things in some effort to get him his administrator's status back. Listen, it's nice and all, but hell, don't take over the entire freaking site. I like to look at the art here on the front page, but not when it's all of the same damn yellow alien with a glowstick. As if submitting endless articles and signing pettitions is gonna change the minds of the site's highest authorities. I'm pretty sure most of these people are just looking for publicity for their work and a sense of belonging by getting involved in something "big".

What troubles me most about this, though, is the feeling that all these people submitting this stuff that gets sent to the front page didn't really tell Jark himself about it. I know they're just sticking up for him, but I for one would ask of his opinion first. From the looks of his journal, the members of the community are making a bigger fuss about it than he is. Come August 7th and I feel like submitting something that isn't yellow, I'll just go and do it. I feel like I'll get my ass kicked for it, but... I don't see the effectiveness in doing what people have planned. I'll probably get my ass kicked for saying this too, anyway.

Nothing's going to last forever, no one's gonna remain the same, and no one's gonna stay in the same place. Sites change, and things happen, end of story. All we can do is just accept it and move on with our lives as artists despite what's going on around us. I came here for the art and so I could monitor my own progress as an artist, and as much as I like to get watched and commented on, my main reason for making this account wasn't for the people. I also find it somewhat odd that an original founder of the site lost his position, but if the people who have been keeping this place running have gotten it this far, then I'm sure there was good reason for it. Jark himself, from what I read in his journal, isn't disclosing a lot of information, and I, for one, am fine with that.

I think Ill just sit this one out from a distance. This is Cal, your ranting... Well, bat furry, and that's all I have to say about that.
